Inspired by India’s beautiful assortment of diversity, a 17-year-old fashion enthusiast, Kartikeya Goel, started Karfa to help provide global exposure to the various cluster groups in India. The word ‘Karfa’ is a portmanteau of ‘Kartikeya’ and ‘Fashion’. We are an online fashion market where you can discover unique Indian traditional & Indo-western apparel including handmade, vintage, and ethnic items sourced from the heart of rural India.
Karfa Founder Kartikeya Goel’s tryst with Indian textiles and garments began when he was in Grade 9. While working as a volunteer at Dr Satish Sikha’s NGO Healthy Kids Happy Kids, in Hyderabad, he saw Dr Sikha conduct workshops to empower women from marginalized sections by training them to sew gowns and dresses for their livelihood. That experience left a strong impression on Kartikeya as a kid, which has now evolved into his own cluster-based marketplace. Under Dr Sikha’s mentorship, Kartikeya designs his own fashion clothing using the brand name 'Karfa By Kartikeya’, which is exclusively available on Karfa.
At Karfa, we use a marketplace model where vendors throughout the country can enroll and exhibit the regional variations of India. It connects local artisans & designers directly to global customers, and thereby, supports their livelihood, removes middlemen, helps them create/promote their brand which exhibits the country’s culture, traditions, and values in its purest form. We believe our journey can help artisans grow their business and customers discover the less-seen hues of India’s cultural colours.
